Flamingos 2 Go - Have a Happy Flocking Day!

Happy May! It’s Time for Mother’s Day & Graduation!

The calendar told me it is May 1st today. Wow! The time is really flying by this year!

I am so excited about several new things. First, today I had the honor of meeting the Lary’s Florist crew from Friendswood. If you’ve never been there, you should stop by. they are soooooo nice & friendly, and oh my goodness, you should see how talented these awesome people are. I bow to them. They are using a few of our cute flower signs to wish their visitors a Happy Mother’s Day. Here’s a couple of pics from today:

2013-05-01 10.56.19

I really hope that if you are in the market for some incredible flower bouquets or amazing gifts that you’ll stop by. They are on 518 just a tiny bit east of 2351. If you do, tell them Flamingos 2 Go sent you. :-) If you pass by the store & see my cute smiling flowers, please let me know what you think.

Another cool event today: I got to create an amazing new 2 ft. photo “Big Head” sign! It turned out great. Take a look…

We received a high resolution photo from the sweet mom. Here’s the cropped photo:

benpogue-headshot

I had my special printer make an outdoor vinyl print for me.

2013-04-22 15.53.37

Then I used my new vinyl print to make the coolest giant photo sign ever:

2013-05-01 19.20.06

What do you think of my new creation?!! I hope he, his family & everyone else loves it! You can take this Big Head sign & wave it around from the bleachers during graduation, use it indoors as a fun centerpiece, and also as an autograph board. Of course, it looks great in the yard. And because I made it out of outdoor, weatherproof materials, if it gets wet, it won’t get ruined. Yippee!!!

Here it is shown in the middle of a graduation yard display:clearfalls-benpoguesign

Like?

On top of these great surprises today, I was also ale to get a photo of my Clear Falls grad display, as you see in the photo above, and of my adorable new “smart cookie” grad theme. Here’s the smart cookies:

I am so happy that they look adorable. I hope some graduates get to enjoy them.

Graduation season officially kicks off tomorrow. I have my very first graduation order on Thursday, May 2. Wow! So honored that this first order will be for a group of scholarship winners. :-)

On top of Mother’s Day on May 12 & Graduation season kick-off, next week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. I still have a couple of adorable displays to honor your wonderful teachers.

It means so much to the teachers when they receive this special recognition. Let me know if your school wants to be the BEST in the district & show your school pride!

I almost forgot…speaking of schools & graduation, here is a 5th grade graduation I did last hear. This would be a great send-off.

It’s May 1st…lots to celebrate…time to giddy up & go, go, go!!

Cheers!

An emotional “Welcome Home”

What a day! You never know how it’s going to work out. I would not have imagined I would get a little tearful over one of my yards today. But I did. Here’s why.

My friend’s mom had to get her 2nd kidney removed (on my birthday last Thursday) because of cancer. She will have to be on dialysis probably the rest of her life, or at least for a few years when she may be able to receive a new kidney. Awful, awful, awful. I wanted to do something to make her smile so I offered to donate a yard display. We didn’t think it was going to happen because of scheduling issues.

My friend & I are not close. But she is the sweetest person you could ever meet. She & I met when she started helping Logan with Occupational Therapy way back when we were attending The Galloway School & Logan was 3-4 years old. Logan loved her! When Facebook came along, it gave us the opportunity to re-connect! This is what I love about Facebook.

I kept thinking about “What if this were my mom?” She would have LOVED something like this. So I ended up dropping all of my to-do list this afternoon, loaded up the car, and drove to Pasadena. I made sure I did as good of a job as possible. In fact, I got over-heated & had to take a break. But I prevailed. :)

The “Welcome Home” yellow star lawn letters with smiley stars, smileys & red hearts really make a statement when you start driving down the street. Do you like?!

Here is the right side of the yard.

I even made sure I had my “We Love You” heart to set up.

The full yard (taken from across the street because the display took up so much room):

I think everything turned out really cute & I was happy with it so I sent all of my pics to my friend. I was in shock when I received her reply:

“Oh my gosh, Chris! That’s PERFECT! THANK YOU SO MUCH! She is going to LOVE that. You are so AWESOME to do that for her. Your gesture has touched me so much that I am crying.”

WOW! That’s why I was tearing up! I don’t often let myself get caught up in the emotional yards. They are hard enough thinking about the sad, traumatic experience the family is going through. I always just try to do my very best to make their display great like it were for my family so that it will give them one brief moment to smile. So here I was getting all teary-eyed! It really touched my heart. I could feel her gratitude even through text. It was just so sweet & loving.

I can’t wait to hear about her mom’s reaction when she is driving up tomorrow! I wish I had video cameras planted in the yard so I could catch her!!! I am hoping she has enough strength & energy to walk to the front yard & get her photo taken with her surprise. :)

I am so happy that this sweet mom is going to come home tomorrow & know how much her daughters love her. I can just feel her heart fill up with joy & happiness. That’s my hope. :)

Cheers to an emotional day!

Any other color like their baseball team’s color
Baseball mitt
Baseball bat

What do you think? Any other suggestions on phrases or signs to add?

Happy Birthday to Amy!!

3.4.13

Introducing my brand new “Happy Birthday” Balloon sign! I had the perfect opportunity to introduce it a few days ago.

The sign is 3 ft tall by 2 ft wide, and is obviously quite bright & cheery! I was debating on the color of the lettering, and looking at it, I am glad I went with red. It helps it to pop! I also thought it would be cute to add a couple of balloon signs to each side to really tie it in together.

Since it was a super colorful birthday theme, I added a few colorful presents, cheery smiley faces, birthday signs, and of course, more balloons! You coldn’t help but smile.

I drove all the way to Spring to deliver this special surprise for a best girlfriend!! It was quite the trek. I enjoyed getting to help, but I can’t keep driving to Spring & that area because of how long it takes.

Do you have any friends on the North side of town that might want to have. little supplemental income? I am actively looking for a delivery helper. Please help me spread the word! We can help make more people smile with a few more helpers around Houston.

I’ve got a lot of cool display themes, but every time I set up this traditional bright birthday display, it makes me happy. Who wouldn’t like this?!!

Cheers to Amy!

Celebrate with Anne!

3.1.13

Have you heard of Anne’s Army? It is a local group of friends & teachers who got together to support Anne Cox, who is a first grade teacher at Gilmore Elementary, and who has been a Breast Cancer Warrior for the past year.

Her sweet first grade team wanted to celebrate with Anne so they had me sneak over & set up a crazy amount of smiley faces, smiley stars & Smiley Stan!

Trust me, this took some logistical coordination. Anne did not have any appointments that day, and so it was up to sweet Diana to take Anne to lunch & keep her out until she got the “all ready!” text message from me. Diana drove Anne back home, and Anne was SOOOO overwhelmed! AIt makes me tear up when I think of all of her emotions, and how much she appreciated all of the love that was oozing out of Smiley Stan and his fellow smileys.

Here is Anne hanging out with Smiley Stan! All these smileys were smiling so bright I think the Space Station saw them smiling for Anne!

I wish Anne many, many more years to celebrate life with her family, friends, teacher team & all the sweet first graders!! We love you Anne!!

Cheers to Anne!

Welcome Baby Amisha!

2.22.13

Welcome baby Amisha! I am so happy to help celebrate her homecoming!

Big brother Ishaam was surprised with his own blue keepsake star. I think the red hearts are a nice extra touch. All the colors complement each othr.

Here is my adorable new keepsake girl teddy bear! I think she is precious

Another big baby!! I hope this means she will sleep better.

I just love celebrating these little miracles every single time. I’ve been delivering storks for 13 years…WOW!! and I am so happy for every single family. I always look forward to the next sweet little one. :-)

Cheers to baby Amisha!

Welcome Home Jaron!

2.10.13

I got a unique request recently. This nice lady wanted to do something different to surprise her friend’s son. This boy, Jaron, is 10 years old, so when she was requesting “Welcome Home” stars, I wondered why. I found out. :(

This sweet boy, her son’s best buddy, had been skiing on Christmas Day, and was in a terrible skiing accident, hitting a tree. Guess what saved him? You guessed it….his helmet. The eery part was my boys were also skiing on Christmas Day. I could not imagine getting that news while waiting on theme to come down.

Of course, I wanted to make it extra special because this kid had been through all kinds of horrible. One thing to keep in mind…I live in League City. This kid lived just west of IKEA in Hunter’s Creek/I-10 area. Not close. But how could I say NO?!!!

Even though my sweet client did not order Smiley Stan, I knew he would want to be there, and would really add a big Welcome. So here I was on a busy street carrying Smiley Stan, who was waving to the police officers & all the other cars passing by.

(See the smiley balloons? I decided I had to bring those, too.) Are you able to look at him and NOT smile?!! Hi Stan!

Here is the finished display. What do you think? I hear the sweet boy was excited & really liked his homecoming surprise. Such a nice gift back to know he liked it. :)

Cheers to a wonderful day!!
